A stadium aficionado and Queenslander, Ballymore holds a special place in my heart.
The Heart of Ballymore
The midday sun beats fiercely down,
Upon the hill of Herston town.
Where boots have dug and giants ran,
The home of every Queensland fan.
The grandstand echoes shadows past,
Of golden days and memories cast.
The mighty Reds in jersey bright,
Who fought for every inch of night.
The battle lines are drawn in chalk,
No time to rest, no time to talk.
A spiral kick against the sky,
The sudden roar, the winning try!
Now shiny steel and brand new grandstands stand,
To welcome women's sport across the land.
But underneath the modern light,
The old-school spirit burns as bright.
